African Bureau Stories is a brand new children's publishing house that produces super cool books by African writers and illustrators for African children and readers across the world. Our stories are fun, relatable and entertaining. We create each of our books with the single-minded goal of delighting our readers and taking them on a journey into a world of stories they always want to return to. We are intensely driven by this mission: to create a world full of wonder and possibilities for children, one African story at a time.

We make our books with a team of talented African writers and illustrators who pour heart into each of our titles. Then we get our books to readers through the publishing marketplace selling through schools, our online shop, book stores, distributors etc.

BUT, that is not where business ends for us.

At African Bureau Stories we are deeply committed to the idea that children's storybooks can change the world. We work as frontline soldiers in the battle against childhood illiteracy in Africa. We also actively promote the use storybooks to show children around the world and the fullness and beauty of different cultures. We believe that giving a child the gift of reading is handing the child a life-changing tool. Every child deserves this gift.

Our physical location is in Accra, Ghana, and from here we spread our tentacles across the entire African continent to find the best stories and then dessiminate these stories as books to world. We were set up in 2015 by Deborah Osei-Agyekum. We have a big sister organization, Golden Baobab which is a literary non profit organization that discovers, nurtures and celebrates talented African writers and illustrators of children’s stories.
